Welcome back to day twenty of our birthday photo challenge. Today's theme is COMMUNITY!

Make sure to tag your photos for today with #Flickr21Challenge AND #community Just a reminder, you can catch up on missed dates and we won't be 'checking' dates to themes as we are in a lot of different timezones. Do your best to keep to the right theme per day but feel free to catch up if you missed any days!

Neighborhood <-> COMMUNITY
Children's playground near my children's elementary school.
This is where community starts.
Children play together, mothers and fathers, grandparents talk and get to know each other.
Sandbox love, real friends for live.

Every year (except during COVID!), on Good Friday, the Turin community of Communion and Liberation organizes the Via Crucis, along the ancient mule track that leads from Sant'Ambrogio to the Sacra di San Michele. Val di Susa, Turin, Italy

Arrival at the ruins of the Sepulchre of the Monks. Via Crucis from S. Ambrogio di Torino to the Sacra di San Michele, Val di Susa.
The Sepulchre of the Monks of the Sacra di San Michele consists of the remains of an ancient temple. It is so called because it was considered a cemetery chapel, but today the hypothesis that sees in this chapel, with an octagonal shape, the reproduction of the Holy Sepulchre, almost a preview to the pilgrims of the Sepulchre of Jerusalem, seems more realistic.
The construction, purely Christian, dates back to the 10th century. This church, still intact in 1621 and dedicated to Santo Stefano, began to fall into ruin in 1661, until it very quickly became a ruin (from: sacradisanmichele.com)

The staircase that, continuing inside, leads to the entrance of the Abbey. In the foreground the sculpture dedicated to San Michele by the sculptor Paul dë Doss-Moroder.

They say pride is one of the Seven Deadly Sins....... I am though rather proud of the London Flickr Group community that we've been able to build since a few of us took over the running of the group a few years ago. This shot is from one of our regular Photowalks, if that's something you're interested in finding more about then you can find more info here : www.flickr.com/groups/londonflickrgroup
Our next Photowalk is Saturday March 15th if anyone would like to join us for an afternoon of wandering : www.flickr.com/groups/londonflickrgroup/discuss/721577219...

My dad passed when I was 4.. I was a single child, and my mother was abusive and completely unstable. Family life in a residential community wasn't something I grew up with, or concepts I understood. Community, family.. . I will never know what it was like to have a father. I will never know what it is like to have a stable, loving, caring mother either. I ended up running away from home at 11 years old, to save myself from physical abuse, and the grim life I was trapped in... Sorry, but I guess this is really a long story, so the short of it: I don't relate to community, family, team dynamics... I get uncomfortable if I am in a situation and these elements are present.. Later in life I learned to create my own family. As an gymnast I understood what a team is, can, and should be.. And as a performer: actor, singer, dancer.. I learned what a community was, could, and should be..
Anyhow, here is my photography attempt to relate to todays theme: COMMUNITY: Here I have for you a community of goats, that reside in Petra, Jordan.. A family, a community.. Better known in the animal kingdom, a large group goats is known as a Trip or also a Herd.. So here's my TRIPPY COMMUNITY HERD of Petra GOATS. Enjoy!

This might have been the largest group shot I ever attempted. Here is the incoming students of the MBA Class of 2026 at Orientation at the Ross School of Business - University of Michigan. There are around 440 students here. This was taken in August 2024.
I held my composure after dropping and damaging my RF 70-200 lens only minutes before this. Still pissed off about that....

On a visit to the Vatican 2016. Thousands of people were waiting for the Pope to appear in St. Peter's Square so there were plenty of people who wanted to visit the Vatican. Very beautiful, but hopefully we will be able to return at a time when there are a little less people present.
