I've spent too long this afternoon adding too many photos to this week's Discussion Thread (Contrasts) and on many photos I've added the relevant TAGS!

I've only managed to do this as I have a little time that I can spend on Flickr this afternoon but would ask and remind everyone that the necessary TAGS (Flickr Lounge and Weekly Theme) be added and after adding your photo to the Group Pool, it must then be added to the relevant Thread!

I've also dropped photos from those that "drop and run." I always suspect, when viewing a photo, that has been included to 100 or more Groups it has nothing to do with our Weekly Theme!

Our simple rules are ~ (a) ensure your photo is relevant to our Weekly Theme (b) relevant TAGS are added and (c) your photo is then added to our Discussion Thread.

I'm so sorry, Brian, that I am am one of the major culprits you're talking about. I will try to get it right in the future. I really appreciate the work you put in this site. I joined it because you have managed to create a sense of community with it.

Don't feel bad Free Range Photos, you're not alone in this one, looks like a few of us did the same thing here, me included. I am with you a lot of work goes into the groups so extolling the Admin is definitely a must. Lots of hard work here!!!
admin
another reminder here...remember that all photos must be in the thread as well as the photo pool.
Thanks,
Sue

Following, Sue's comment above our Rules also say that your photo must be in both the Group Pool and the relevant Discussion Thread ~ if not they can be missed, from consideration, to the Weekly and Admin Awards!

Yes, we are finding "too many" photos being uploaded to the Group Pool but not being added to the relevant Discussion Thread! I'm not referring to those that "drop and run" but refer to members who participate on a regular basis with our Weekly, Saturday and Sunday Themes!

Our simple rules are ~ (a) ensure your photo is relevant to our Weekly Theme (b) relevant TAGS are added and (c) your photo is then added to our Discussion Thread.

Photos that are not uploaded to The Weekly Theme, Saturday or Sunday Themes will not be considered when choosing winners!
How do I post a photo to the relevant discussion thread (flickr challenged here I guess)!? Thank you.

kenman2010:

to put a photo in the thread:
in your photostream click on the picture you want to put into the thread.
On the right bottom there are all those little shapes 2 squares then 2 arrows. The first arrow point to the right is the one you want to click on.
when you do it will say sharie 1 photo to...you will choose embed. Then you will go down to the menu and choose med. size (the one with the 500) in it.
Go back up to the address bar that should be highlighted in blue and right click to copy.
Go to the flickr lounge choose the discussion thread that say geometric shapes.
Scroll down to the bottom and in a comment section right click to paste.
Then press enter then press post reply.
Hope this does it for you if not...let us know.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to add a photo to the relevant thread from a mobile? I usually use the Flickr App but there are no ‘sharing’ buttons on it. Adding tags, descriptions etc is easy enough, as is adding to the group pool. I could try via the website, but it normally involves a fight against a redirect to the app ☹️

no, I'm pretty sure you can't. I don't use the app because it's very restricting. I tend to go directly to flickr via google. But that is very restricting as well. A real shortfall for flickr at the moment is all the restrictions when doing mobile.

Sue, unfortunately it can't be done! At least that has always been my experience when I've tried from my mobile phone!

Don't honestly understand why we aren't allowed to do this as there are so many people using the mobile app, nowadays especially when out and about.!
RobertsNL Posted 6 years ago
Thanks. I thought I’d check I wasn’t missing the obvious 😉 Sue, I find the app much improved re functionality, you couldn’t access discussions before, but they clearly haven’t thought of everything yet. I did go to the website but apparently I don’t remember my log-in ... d’oh! I guess my tree will have to stand proud out of view unless I miraculously make it home in time to get it on the thread tonight.

I just want to know if the same photo can be in the two themes: Weekend Theme and Weekly Theme. I don't want to post something wrong. Thanks and stay safe!

*Millie* On and Off!:

There are many times when a photo taken for one theme matches another really well so I would say if you have an image that works for both challenges then yes, you can use it twice.

Wonder if someone could clarify the cutoff time for adding photos to the group.

I loaded 2 photos on Oct 25th, perhaps about 10 pm EDT. It is now 5:02 pm Oct 26th here and it tells me I cannot add any more photos today.

If I ever knew when the cutoff time was I cannot remember now. (Advanced age syndrome?)

Anyway, I suspect there is set time that would be good to know.

Cheers!

Light Collector:

Sorry we seem to have missed this question Bob. Quite honestly I'm not sure I can answer this one as I'm not aware of a specific cut off time either. I wonder if it was simply because you were trying to upload a third photo within 24 hours of posting your earlier two.

linda.addis:

Bob, I believe we have had this problem before and if memory serves me correctly Flickr somehow uses the UK Timeline which would "translate" your Canadian time to UK time for both of your uploads i.e. Oct 25th 10pm Canada time would be UK Time on the 26th of 5.02am and 5.02pm Canada time would be 10.02pm on the 26th i.e. the same day!!

Flickr would therefore believe you were attempting to upload 4 photos on the same day!!

We are not able to get round this strange problem!!

BGDL:
Thanks Brian I didn’t know that. As Admin I should have. I’ll make a note so I know next time the question is asked.
admin
BGDL Posted 3 years ago
Linda Addis Not a problem, Linda and I should have flagged that up when it was initially understood to be a problem!
admin
hmmm is it not just 24 hours after you posted a photo no matter what time zone you are in? At least that's what I would have assumed.

Sue, you could be correct ... I honestly don't know but recall someone else had a similar situation as Bob has experienced!
Cheryl Dunlop Molin Posted 3 years ago
You know, I think Flickr has changed its upload rhythm somewhat recently. Last week I had a day I uploaded two photos late in the day. The next day I went onto the Flickr Lounge, found my two photos were still the last two uploaded, but it was allowing me to upload one photo. Since it had failed to allow me to upload one the previous day, I went ahead and uploaded it then.

My hunch is that too many people were frustrated by the wait-24-hours rhythm, which inevitably meant if you uploaded at 7:00 a.m. one day, you might get 7:05 the next day and then not be able to upload until 8:00 or 9:00 because you did other things first the next day (so now you can't upload at 7:00 anymore), and so forth, and that they've reset it for less than 24 hours till your next upload (22 hours? I don't know). And sometimes it seems that midnight resets (no matter when you last uploaded) and sometimes it doesn't, so it may be that midnight resets on weekends and your last upload time during the week.

Cheryl Dunlop Molin:

Oh, Cheryl, whatever the situation is we can all agree but is certainly confusing. I know I have been caught out on occasions when I've uploaded photos from the US and that was when I became of the opinion Flickr was using the UK time!

I'll try to get confirmation, as soon as I can!!
Jo Zimny Photos Posted 2 years ago
I have had problems with what might have been this time difference, and Brian was gracious and sent me an invite to post. That worked every time. It's good if you're in a pinch.

Might have been my PC, it's been misbehaving lately, Brian, but happy the photos showed up ok.
