Sugar Land, TX, southwestern suburb of Houston; the site of the movie “Sugarland Express”; where Leadbelly learned the classic blues song “Midnight Special”; and where storm water covers the sidewalks, sometimes:

I live in the Netherlands, and more specifically, the Amsterdam area, in a suburb named Diemen.

Here a picture of modern Dutch architecture in Amsterdam, to stay within the theme of the group. 😉

Istanbul, but since I'm a native I tend not to shoot a lot of the usual touristy stuff. So a minaret isn't really interesting for me, but a missing historic minaret with scaffolding around it is:

Hi, I'm a recent conscript, so not many contributions to the group yet. I live near the city of Sheffield, in England, which for many years was known as the Steel City for its long history of steelmaking. Those days are long gone, and the city's industrial past is slowly being replaced and rejuvenated by new, modern developments. I love seeing the transformation.

Here's an example of one of the notable additions to Sheffield's architecture in recent years:

Tim van der Leeuw: Thanks for sharing. I have visited Amsterdam many times mostly for work but have always liked it.

I'm way over the other side of that mountain (about 15 miles the other side :P); I used to ride over the top of it a lot :)

Not closed, just dormant.
I see a few posts up thread with photos of buildings where people live. That’s a good idea for this group. We should do more of that. Here’s one of mine:

I live in Chicago, arguably the best city in the US for architecture, although that doesn't seem to be widely known (yes, Chicago also seems to have middle child syndrome!).

Carrot Room:

I was born and raised in Houston but have lived in Sugar Land for the last 35 years.

A point of information, the movie is Sugarland Express not Sugar Land Express. In the movie Sugarland is one word not two as in real life. When Goldie Hawn says Sugar Land, it is spoken as a single work with two syllables. Not spoken as two words.
