For birds; Canon T1i, Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, hand held for birds almost all the time though I have a decent Manfrotto 352RC ball-head and tripod for times when it can be used. No grip.

A D300 with battery grip.
A Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR.
Many other lenses but none of any use for birds bar that.

Nikon D90, Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6, Nikkor 55-200 f/4-5.6
I shoot handheld most times, no tripod or grip...

Apart from this I own the 18-55 kit lens, a 50mm 1.8 and a Vivitar SB-285 flash

Used to have Panasonic FZ-7 superzoom with Olympus Tcon 1.7x. This was great but have moved to Pentax k-x (from k-m and Tamron for better noise - see photostream) and Pentax 55-300mm and do have Kenko 1.5X teleconverter but not had light for it yet. In very good light I am not sure that DSLR is that much better to be honest, considering the difference in weight etc.

Most times, it is the Olympus Camedia C-765 Ultra Zoom digital point-and-shoot with the 10-times optical zoom.

Sometimes it is the Sony Handycam DCR-SR62 digital camcorder with a built-in digital still camera feature and with the 25-times optical zoom.

Hoping either later this year or early next year to purchase either the Olympus E-620 or the E-30 digital SLR with a really good telephoto zoom lens.
