Do you have photos in your photostream of birds with unknown IDs? If so, this is the place to post them.
No doubt, one of the many experts at Birds Photos will be able to IDentify the species for you.
Note: For help on pasting a picture into this thread, see the Topic "How to paste a photo into the discussion threads."
• Please provide information about the location, time of year, etc. in either the post or on the photograph's description.
• If the member who kindly IDentified the species for you left only one of the names, you may search with that name under Wikipedia to find the other name.
Ex.: Someone IDentifies a bird as an American Robin, the common name. Go to wikipedia.org and search for "American Robin". Up front the entry should give the binomial name, Turdus migratorius.
Instructions for Bird ID Help
• Either leave respond to the post in this thread or leave a comment on the photograph with the common species name.
• You may, also, insert this to the bottom of your comment: (Seen in Birds Photos)

These two birds were photographed in a marsh in SW Montana. Could you tell me what type of birds they are?

1st bird: this is indeed a Tawny Pipit (Anthus campestris).
The yellow legs, the dark lore and the dark median coverts (just visible) are things that only fits this species.

I thought this was a sharp shinned hawk hunting in Okaloacoocheee Slough. Taken on July 12th at almost dark...I now am leaning toward a broad winged hawk...any help will be appreciated.

BoBi - tricky, esp as it is in Kenya but they could be curlew sandpiper with one turnstone (the one toward the left about a third of the way up with white on the middle back. They seem a similar size and the white rump and white wing bars would suggest this but not 100% (apart from the turnstone!)

The pictures were taken on November 25, 2008 at the Deer Creek Golf Course, Deerfield Beach, Florida. There were two pair on the golf course. Their call was a loud honking and a less louder growling cackle. One of one of the pairs, one with large white side patches, was very aggressive toward the other pair. Please let me know what kind of bird they are.

Can anyone confirm this bird?

I thought it might be a Phainopepla (phainopepla nitens), but not sure. Thanks in advance.

This is suppose to be a chicken. But does not resemble any of the other ones. Its personality is amazing, very intelligent. It came from a shelter in Bronx. She wont hang out with the other chicken/ roosters. she only likes hanging out with the deer and goat. Any clue her species and personal experiences.
Thank you

sd60... where was this hawk shot taken? If in the proper range, I would say a Rufous Morph Swainson's Hawk. They are about the size of a Red-tailed Hawk, but are typically summer residents that migrate to S. America. That said, if it was taken in November, you could have a straggler, or one that decided to stick around, which they will sometimes do if food is abundant. It really depends on where you are...

Anyone know what this small bird is?
I couldn't get very close to this little guy at all. Pic was taken at Bitter Lakes Refuge in New Mexico in January '09. From his actions I think he prays on insects.
Pic is terrible but was the best I could do under the circumstances.

It would help to know where these were taken. The top one looks like a Juvenile Northern Goshawk. The bottom one could be one of many, it is hard without body markings. They don't appear to be the same bird. Both are gorgeous shots! :)

Bendire's Thrasher?
Backyard visitor. Not sure if I've ID'd this bird correctly. If I'm right this is a new bird for us.

Here's another one.
At first I thought this might be a Chipping or Tree sparrow but the speckles on the breast seem to prove otherwise. Photo taken at long distance so not as clear as I'd like but it was a new bird for me.

I took this photo from a bridge over the Rio Hondo in New Mexico. The pic is terrible because not only is it at 500mm but way to far away from my vantage point. I couldn’t even see the yellow on this very small bird as it flitted about just above the flowing water. I looked in the one book that I have (National Audubon Field Guide Western Region) and I was unable to find a match although it may be in there. Appreciate any help.
