'Less is more' is our mantra around here...and that also goes for individual threads of people saying hello!
But we get it - you find a cool group with a lot of members, the photos are amazing...you're excited and just want to let me know you're here! Not a problem, we're glad you found us and happy to have you part of our family.
So if you want to say hello and tell us a little bit about yourself - this is the place to do it. Please do not open separate threads for this purpose, from now on we will close such threads and redirect you here....and eventually delete those stragglers.
By all means, if you have something specific to share, discuss, ask, etc - feel free to open a new topic on it if you don't an existing topic on it already.
So...onto the HELLOs!

Hello! Great to be back on Flickr after several years of break. Happy finding a group of folks sharing my interest in "photominimalism" ;-)
I'm Polish living in Switzerland and love traveling and exploring new ways (for me) of photography. Currently getting more into analog ... let's see on how it will work.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Philippe from France. Photography is a hobby for me, I don't remember when I started, but now it's hard to meet me without a camera in my bag wherever I go, skying, hicking, even at work (but i'm retired now). My main focuses are landscapes, mainly mountain, wildlife and night sky, but a lot of other things, anything I feel worth photographying in fact.

Hello,
My name is Pierre Saget (they/them) and I'm an American street and urban landscape photographer working in both digital and film and based out of the Tri-Cities, Washington. I'm not a consistently minimalist photographer, but I've long been fascinated by minimalism and have been long inspired by minimalist art.

Hi, I'm John Casey, I've been a professional Photographer in Australia for over 40 years. I shoot mainly sports and real estate these days, but have shot heaps of other stuff over the years. The wierd thing is I shoot as a hobbyist when I'm not working and love the simple things in life. I always say that I like to make something ordinary into the extraordinary by highlighting it's simplicity. I see a lot of that on this page which is really nice.
Hi, I'm Tõnu from Tallinn, Estonia. Photography is a relatively new hobby for me and it really kicked off this spring when I got a first full-frame camera. Been mostly taking photos at sports competitions but the real passion is nude photography. I don't know much anything about minimalism but managed by chance to crop one photo taken during a nude photo shoot that got accepted here so it's game on :).
Hello everyone. Im a photographer from Edmonton AB. I mostly shoot cars and street photography. But you will see lots of variety on my page. Ive been into photography for just over a year now and have learned lots. I continue to see what everyone else is doing and love to learn from you. Thanks for taking the time to read this. And thank you everyone for all the inspiration.

Hi my name is Jan. My camera got robbed 30 years ago. The mobile telephone helped me to rediscover the camera. I like to go out and the camera helps me to look with more attention at the world around me. Nice group.
Hi, my name is Armin living in Munich / Germany. I'm with flickr since one year now and still not familiar with all of its secrets but willing to learn. Minimalism is a great challenge for me! Mainly I point my cam onto landscapes, slowly animals, plants and flowers - almost during holidays.
Best regards to all!

Hello. I'm an old guy who has picked up the camera in retirement after setting it aside upon entering the workplace. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. A favorite quote from the writer George Saunders: "The highest aim of [art] is to jolt us (albeit temporarily) into a more awake and uncertain state of mind." Not a lot of photos do that for me, but some minimalist photos do, and I look forward to spending time with this group's creations.

Hello. I like taking photos of nature and abandoned places. I got into film photography about a year ago and have been having a good time with the analog process.
Hi my name is Paul and enjoy capturing photos of a variety of subjects and especially enjoy nature photography since spending time surrounded by nature with my camera is very soothing to me. I look forward to being inspired by what I see here!
Greetings. I am an amateur photographer and minimal architecture enthusiast. Love minimal photos that border on the surreal and depicting liminal space between dreams and awakening.

Hi, new here, I only realized that I'm more into the subject then I expected,
Also I'm still to make some new photos specific to this theme,
and I'm finding it strangely challenging to make at the same time a minimalist
photography, and yet at the same time the one that I'm happy with, any advice
from more experienced fellows here?

Landscope Traveler welcome to the group, Eric!
When composing minimal photos, you do not limit yourself on what you photograph, but consider as well, how you represent it. Your minimalist photos will have a clear distinction between context - for minimal photos this is usually uniform - and main object. To enhance the perceived size of the negative space, you‘ll place the object of interest off the center, to the side or higher or lower within the frame.

Thanks, I need to say the way you described it is exactly what I found it interesting,
mostly I'm attracted to landscapes, but this is almost opposite, I guess I'm gonna
have to keep on experimenting, playing with space as an object... almost like photography in the negative, less is more after all
Hi everyone, new to the group but not to Flickr. Irish but living in France for many years. Enjoy all forms of photography depending on where I am and the opportunities available. Joining the group was a decision to focus on minimalistic images - a new personal challenge.

Hey everyone, my name is Vivek and I’m an Indian living in Halifax, Canada. I’m new to photography and mostly shoot with my Pentax Spotmatic film camera and my iPhone 13. I’ve recently purchased a Fujifilm XE3 and I’m really excited for it to arrive! I’m new to Flickr and didn’t want to post on IG anymore (tons of reasons why lol). Glad to be part of this group and I’m already inspired by all of the incredible talent on here!

Hi - new to the group - have been doing photography for over a half a century - still trying to improve. I shoot a lot of film though I do use digital when it's the way to go. My longterm project is documenting the American Prairie. What some people call "fly over country" is my meat and potatoes so to speak

Hi guys! I'm kinda new into photography and into all of this. I'm Martin from Mexico, from a little town, Campeche. I started with photography as a hobby around one year ago, and this is like the first time that I interact with people in here, in flickr, so hi! All your photographs are inspiring and truly carrying the statement that Less, in fact, is more. Thanks to you all and thanks for being open for beginners like me hahaha

Mouge N-2C Bonjour, Antoine!
I hope you‘ll find some inspiration in this group.
I hope you‘ll find some inspiration in this group.
To everyone, I say hello / bonjour / hola. My name is Rob (short for Robert, which sounds a bit too formal for me). I live on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee in the U.S. I began photography a couple of years ago and feel fortunate to live close to an area like the Smoky Mountains as it has great opportunities for landscape photography. I also love to go to the beach and photograph there as well. I appreciate being in this group and look for it to expand my horizons in photography.
On a side note, is it me or does this thread seem to be upside down, where the most recent posts are at the bottom? Just an observation. Thanks.

Aren’t all discussions on Flickr upside down?
Thanks. I guess they are...I guess I never really paid that much attention until now. No worries. Glad to just be here!
The world is clearly divided on this point, not only in discussion forums but also in email threads. I think it has a lot to do simply with whatever online form of communication happened to be one's early, formative influence. Top to bottom (like Flickr topics) seems correct to me.
Hello, I don’t know much about photography, but I inherited a camera and joined Flickr in hopes of encouraging myself to start using it.
