You & COVID-19

admin
Veee Man Posted 5 years ago
The Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted everyone's life.

Some people are taking risks & still going to work, while others are working from home. Children are also homebound, due to schools closing.

Many businesses are temporarily closed. Every country's economy is not doing too well right now.

A number of group members have taken some excellent fotos of the pandemic.

We were wondering how it has affected you.
Are you working at the office, or from home?
How about your friends & family?

I live in a hotspot in New Jersey. For the past 6 weeks, I have been limiting all activity and only going out once a week for food. The situation is dangerous and I worry about all those in my life who are older and at risk.

There are many people who refuse to admit that their behavior puts others at risk. They are scared and angry that their lives have been upended and their finances are in trouble. Healthcare is a problem for many, the social safety nets are frayed and few have large savings.

The lack of leadership at the federal level caused a failure to prepare, a failure to contain, and now a failure to recover.

Here in Japan, it is refreshing to see families out playing with their children in the healthful sunshine. The total C19 deaths are at 372, and infection rates are declining. This is a far lower death rate than annual flu, as are the deaths in America.

Viejito Posted 5 years ago
aeschylus18917:
in what way do you disagree

This kind of quote is used as a rationale for lowering taxes on the super-rich until government is unable to maintain roads and bridges and to protect the citizenry from exploitation and abuse by enemies within and without, e.g. from those who would destroy our clean air and water for their own profit, just to give one example.

Hmm, didn't the State bail out the rich at the expense of the tax serfs (i.e. the middle class) in 2008? Hasn't the state since 1913 used the Federal Reserve to create fiat currency and rob the average American, while enriching the elite? Doesn't the current "stimulus/bailout give 95% of the money (money "borrowed" from posterity) to the plutocrats that support the regime? Isn't the current lockdown destroying the middle class and small businesses? Guess you've got to get rid of those pesky bourgeoisie before you can have a dictatorship of the proletariat (of course, actually a dictatorship of the elites).
...and, it seems, you want to give the State more power.
I've visited East Germany. You ought to visit one of those socialist people's paradises to find out what unlimited government is like. Seems like we're moving that direction, unfortunately.
...and BTW, socialist states have always been the worst polluters by far , and murderers of more than 100 million the last 100 years.
Someday you may understand that the State only acts to protect and expand its own power.
Viejito Posted 5 years ago
aeschylus18917:
Someday you may understand

Good one!
I will have to remember that one if I ever feel called to go on a rant against “the system”...
and, it seems, you want to give the State more power.

It seems you do not understand me. I do not want to give the government more power. I want the government to tax the people and corporations equitably, to enable the necessary government functions to be paid for without taking the money from our grandchildren. This could also enable our country to keep up its infrastructure and allow the middle and lower classes to get sick or have surgery without becoming homeless, etc.
aeschylus18917 Posted 5 years ago
Thanks for the reply, Viejito. I agree with you depending on your definition of equitably. Equitable based on the root equa would mean paying the same rate or percentage. So at a 10% rate ( of course, it's more like 50%) a person making a million would pay 100,000, while a person making 10,000 would pay 1,000. And if you want to argue the validity of income tax, wouldn't you agree that everyone should have a stake in the financing of the State? I don't think that's what you mean, however.
A few quotes:
The power to tax is the power to destroy -- John Marshall
When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society , over the course of time they create a legal system that authorize it and and a moral code that glorifies it.-- Frederic Bastiat
To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.--Thomas Jefferson
Well, there are many quotes from people who understand what tax is.

Tax is the forced appropriation (theft) of property under the guise of right. People understand that all legitimate transactions involving transfer of property are based on consent. However, in the case of taxes, it's a matter of force, no different than a highway thief. Further, if you think that taxing the rich saves the poor from paying, you should understand that the costs are just passed down to those who can least afford it.
You see, we aren't much different from serfs required to give 50% of produce to the overlords. We are forced to pay for the State to spy on us, fight unjustified wars around the world, support corrupt politicians, a giant unproductive bureaucracy, bailouts to the rich and powerful, etc.
The way I see it is people must resist and limit the powers of the State. This is the only path to freedom and to avoid the encroaching tyranny.
I live in Raleigh NC. There has been a flurry of protests to reopen NC here. Last week 4 people were arrested. Today there are two more protests. I will try to photograph, without getting arrested because jails and prisons here are a HIOT BED OF COVID19.

I live in Brazil. i work with food so i am working. but my employees are at home. My journey, by car, comes down, from home to work and from work to home. it's been two months. in my city we have only 100 infected and 3 dead. because social isolation was well accepted. The situation in the center of the country is different. we have more than 17,000 dead and a government that is not at all concerned. State governors are organizing separately.

Veee Man Posted 5 years ago
That's good to hear, Jaque. I hear a lot of the world is in a similar situation.

Even in the U.S., some states have it much worse than others.
This is due to state, county, & city governments taking charge
& getting things under control (i.e., California), while other states
either kept delaying, or not doing enough (i.e., New York).

I watched this Youtube video about how the Chinese government
was concerned more about citizens protesting, & less about actually
stopping the virus.

I'm working from home.

How about your friends & family?
- My niece and her husband contracted COVID19 in Brooklyn, NY. Both have fully recovered.
- My wife 1st cousin's father-in-law (in his 90's) contracted COPVID19 in a Connecticut Nursing home and has since recovered
- A co-workers grandfather contracted COVID 19 down in Georgia and passed away from it.

As of this posting, my state is on an upward trend line for infections and deaths.

Yes, it definitely is getting worse in Brazil.

One reason that it hasn't spread a lot in India (& probably other countries) is because of the TB / BCG vaccination that's required at birth.

Coronavirus deaths lower in countries using tuberculosis vaccine, study finds

I was born in India & got the TB vaccine.
However, it isn't required in the U.S..

I don't know if they're giving that vaccine in South America, Europe, Africa, etc.

Mind that Belgium reports all cases in which covid is 'suspected' to have contributed to a slightly earlier than expected death.
That turned out to not completely explain the higher overall rate. At least a few hundred must have gone undetected.
Other countries can not count... those numbers make no sense.

Numerous businesses were ruined by the lockdown. The economic and social consequences are serious. The City is like dead. Mortality was at normal levels from January 2020 to November 2020. However, it is likely to increase sharply in 2021 due to the long-term consequences of the measures.

Says who?
Which consequences?
German mortality figures in Week 52 of 2020: 31% above the average of previous years.
In Belgium, the reported covid mortalities are higher than the overall excess morality. We had less flu cases (more vaccinated) and less traffic accidents(except elderly on souped-up e-bikes).
A recent studie found that only 10% of the elderly said they suffered from loneliness, while almost all youngsters did. The elderly rather enjoyed the extra attention.
According to the governor of our national bank, the saving accounts of the average Belgian has grown considerably last year... which made them blow bubbles at the stock market.
Some newly rich probably will commit suicide when they realise their mistake... but that is because they already were stupid when the pandemic started.

It had in 1940 and 1944... even slightly higher than in 2020. The Spanish flu year and 2 end 19th century years in which the first corona virus probably caused it, were also slightly higher.
The definition of a civilised country is that it has a negative excess mortality in times it is not invaded by yanks.

Yes, I also trust the word of a family doctor with a YouTube channel over the collective expertise of epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists, especially one who has said a bunch of things that have been proven wrong or were evidently wrong from the start.

"Bailey, who has 92,000 followers to her YouTube channel, also said in the video she would not be getting a Covid-19 vaccine when one became available. It was likely the epidemic would have finished before a vaccine was available, she said, as they typically take at least four years to be developed. She incorrectly said Covid-19 was similar to influenza, and that the flu vaccine did not reduce deaths."

The 'funniest' story I've ever heard about Covid vaccination: Doctors had the idea to take an extra dose from vials of COVID-19 vaccine. 6 Doses Instead of 5. A measure to fight the shortage of vaccine.

Both EU and US regulators considered that the vials contain six doses and have authorised the use of the sixth dose.

Pfizer said its contracts specify the delivery of a certain number of vaccine doses and not vials.

This means customers are now receiving fewer vials than they did before regulators approved the change.

livingoutsidethematrix:
A virtual Pfizer PR press release report falsely claimed that one dose of its experimental, DNA altering, high-risk mRNA technology "offers robust protection" for individuals who've had flu-now called covid.

It's known that not all ex covidd positive people who have (only mild , maybe) symptoms anyway, or none at all (especially when tested negative), will develop a sufficient adaptive immune response to surely not die from respiratory failures when infected the second time because it takes time to build resistance... even in some extremely rare cases until the second jab... if they were never infected before... but some people testing negative for coronavirus antibodies may still have some immunity. Others were not tested for anybodies, because they never tested positive for the virus. Those tests are expensive... and to my logic unlikely to result in something else than the obvious.
... (I could go on for a while)
What's your point?
Poza Proza Posted 5 years ago Edited by Poza Proza (member) 5 years ago
"offers robust protection"?
Ok, we know that 40 to 60% of those who never where exposed to covid 19, and never were vaccinated have actual t-cel recognition.... so, how hard could it be to come up with a vaccine that offers a robust protection.... also knowing that 4 of the Corona viruses only cause a common cold... which is far less deadly than the... the Spanish * flu.

The polio vaccine is 'robust' as well. Just look at your own legs to witness that this is the whole truth.
However while in 2018, there were 33 cases of wild polio, 104 cases of vaccine-derived polio were counted and maybe you -yes you antivaxer, you- have it because 70% go without symptoms.
Between 1987 and 2000, the case fatality rate across the United States was still three deaths per 1,000 cases attributable to measles, or a robust 0.3%... while in 1920, without vaccine , it only was 30%.

*The way Trump pronounces 'Chinese' is worth a million... so maybe we should say covid 19, or perhaps only the New York variant, is flu as well. Its up to you.
If it can make it there, it can make it everywhere.

Believing state-approved/media promoted fake news rubbish risks enormous — possibly irreversible — harm to health and no benefits.

News media are for entertainment only. Some conspiracy theorists build on out of context quotes the journalists gather from politicians walking Spanish in the hall or to find an opponent to blame, defame, accuse, insult, ridicule... or kiss his boots.
There is no information gathering, nothing to believe in except gossip.
Believe in what? They are at most sometimes referring to studies they have clearly not read themselves... and which are there to be reviewed rather than believed or commented on with breaking new catch phrases.
An example, for you to get my modest drift:
Two of our major news sites just came with
''Cause of death Rachel (99) reported as COVID-19 in spite of negative test and vaccinated''
Both articles have words in them, but as only content that the woman (what's in a name) died on February 11 (I believe the date), and that in spite of the above no no, the medic had indicated on the death certificate that covid was the cause... which is consistent with the article's title after all... I do admit, be it for now.

They had gotton this great information for free from a family member's Facebookpost, where was written on what they write upon (I think they call it memes) that “Your dead is feeding the daily statistics that are used to take our freedom away.''
This family member was further quoted by both news sites:''If one witnesses this, one is tempted to doubt the statistics and the way things go (...) it pinches to see the truth being bended. And why?''
That is the way some people type on Facebook, I know.
The facebookpage generated 1000 likes in a few hours, but the articles only 900.
Viruswaanzin vzw (no stranger to BAMCop) shared the text and added ''yet another lie''

The new celebrated facebook influencer later revealed his secret whistleblower, the undertaking funeral service manager, had told a not by name mentioned family member that Gachel's dead was reported as a corona fatality. The undertaker refused to confirm that, though.

This is remarkable, because the cause of dead is a medical secret not communicated to funeral directors. Part C of the death attest, revealing the cause, is sometimes to be delivered by the undertaker to the mayor house, in a sealed envelope, which he is not allowed to open.
Part A contains advises (yes/no) for the undertaker to prevent organ donations if the doctor had suspected possible contra-indication... such as an infection.

Need I say more?

Covid vaccines and mRNA technology may cause the disease they're supposed to protect against, not the other way around.

Yes, they may. At one point there might be even more infections caused by the vaccine than there are infections by the virus itself. And yes, a little adjustment might be desired when this happens, because no cases is better than a mild one. It happened before, and will happen again.

Your today's homework is to find out which vaccine (either one of two) and which animal.

OK, once upon a time, mRNA indeed was vulnerable to the body’s natural defences: it could possibly be destroyed before reaching its target cells. And such biological havoc might stir up an immune response that could make the therapy a health risk for some patients.
It was a real obstacle, and still may be,
But many years and decades of ever better experiments came together. After much trial and error, Karikó discovered a remedy for mRNA’s Achilles’ heel.
Karikó and Weissman created a hybrid mRNA that could sneak its way into cells without alerting the body’s defenses.
They figured that if you incorporate modified nucleosides into mRNA, you can kill two birds with one stone.
That discovery is described in a series of scientific papers starting in 2005.

I must admit that recently there was damaged mRNA mentioned in a hacked e-mail , and that the root cause is still not made public, but regulators seem to be satisfied now.
Rumours are that the mail had mixed up some results.

He is funny
Ate all our chocolates.
Hohmann just copy pasted
I have never seen him in my 'hole'.

And the original cancer tale is only the latest chapter in a series.

Poza Proza:
therapy

In my country, a vaccine therapy is a type of treatment that uses a substance or group of substances to stimulate the immune system ... whether Leo likes this definition or not.
His motivated request to have that changed must be on a signed and dated sheet of paper with reference to glossaria and examples by experts in the field.

You blame all the Middle East wars & displaced Islamic war refugee immigration invasion into Europe by blaming it on radical Muslim Jihadists, Trump, and Nazi Germans.

That would be ridiculous, for many raisons
To name a few
Non of our terrorists were religious.... rather right wing or ex jail birds... their brains like an 'empty ashtray'.
Trump? Charles Michel keeps forgetting his name... he said so.
Trump is the one who ate our chocolates.... out of frustration that nobody had ever heard of him.
We have plenty of nazi... do not need Germans for that.

forced multiculturalism agenda

Doesn't that deserve a brand new exclusive discussion.
Our nurses* say, and I do not know if that is real, that there are amazingly few infections among people whose culture demand a minimum of hygiene. I would think that would aply to most cultures of my country's minorities.... OK, maybe not the Turks... although the expression 'dirty Turk' no longer is in the latest version of our official word list... and is seen as archaic by those rejecting that list... and therefore do not understand what their neighbour is saying.

*persons who cares for the sick

ps:there are still 76 elderly in our Weekly New Deaths per Age Group, and non in the group that could not produce or did not have a birth certificate.
Belgian certificates do not mention colour, but yankee refugees (we have 4) might. At first sight they are all white.
My raccoons have an European passport. The male is black, his sister is not. Although there are no rabies here, they were vaccinated to travel**.
I'm proud to say that they might be the most celebrated Globetrotters since they have passed more than 30 country borders without being checked even once. At this moment the Italians have the most strict laws, but the competent officers only resorted in taking pictures to show their kids.

** in member states, country laws apply for live animals. Only Austria has an interpretation of directives that does not see raccoons as invasive to the extend that more than a signature is needed.... no special permits our vehicle authorisation for Exotic (in the connotation of forbidden) pets

Barbara Lerner Spectre who tells us everything in less than 1 minute:

She says Jews will be resented because of their leading role. But without that leading role, Europe will not survive.
That is less than a minute... and hardly everything.
Few, if any, not to say non, European Jewish leaders share her views, but the relevance of her judgment in this here typing is that hate-promoters shared it, presenting it as proof that Jews intend to take over Europe..
I'm afraid she will have to do that on her own, or at least say how she came to giving haters that idea other than having seen a Hitler movie as if this was a window into European future of little Hitlers -like you, yes you- rather than where the yanks would be heading to if they had not kicked her out, leaving you to go and look for her in a country were some might actually like you in a way.... but i would not be sure about that.
I wish I could make this sentence a little longer, for you not to understand it, but in principle I only have a minute off topic.

The Swedish eat herring which help maintain glowing skin - they tend to have higher cheekbones, giving them contour of the stereotype the nazi idolised.
Anti-Semitic attack, however, accounted only for 4% of all their hate crimes in 2018... so there might be still a few left to brutally slaughter. But Sie wereden das one minute gesidel erstmal das maul stophen, don't worry.
It might even nicely fit into an antvaxers philosophy.

Yes,
Would you please Google 'Barbara Lerner Spectr' in your location in the English settings and count how many white supremacist sites connect her to the above one minute video. There must be at least 50.
I suspect that this is a Google bomb, to prevent any other of the woman s publications to appear on the first two pages.
If indeed, please inform Google that there has bin a search engine optimization attack from right wing domestic terrorists.

I was already at home a lot, as i am disabled. I write on a freelance basis, though about 75% of what I write is only for for my own blog initially (sometimes gets republished).
It's changed my life though in that I can not leave the house much being too high risk, and have only taken photographs in the home and around the local area. Now I've had my first vaccine I hope that will change soon :)

I rarely use Google. I do not like the way they pre-chew the information for you and only show you what they think you would like.

On DuckDuckGo, my search engine of choice, the first thing I noticed was a Quora article with the title "How does one explain to an anti-semite that Barbara Lerner Spectre is not evidence of a Jewish conspiracy?" linking to a Youtube video on an account that has been terminated.

When I Googled her on Google, I saw 34,700 articles and 242 videos, most of them the one with her head leaning to the right, with subtitles in many different languages.

to prevent any other of the woman s publications to appear on the first two pages.

When an academic says something outrageous, it is normal that there would be more talk about that than about any serious work they did, and thus it would tend to show up first.
