I'm bored today.

Drop one image per week. You'll get somebody to say something about it. Once this gets full of shit, it will be canned. Enjoy. You don't need to be too constructive, but you know, some insults are cool, and some not.

Don't post your image until someone has posted a review of the last image in the thread. If you post an image before the previous image is reviewed, your image may be deleted. Also, post medium sized images only. Small images will be deleted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
instructions on posting medium sized images:

- go to ur image.
- click the "down arrow" on the button above your image that has the mail, twitter, and facebook icon.
- click on "grab the HTML/BBCode"
- on dropdown menu select "medium 500"
- copy the html jargon
- paste html jargon in reply box on the discussion page
- fin.

(thanks kaamer)

So I get to be the annoying picture that everyone sees for the next few months :-)

I submitted this a while back ...
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago

AndrewWiese Posted 17 years ago
This is all answers, no questions.

DaveSinclair Posted 17 years ago

long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago

tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago

Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
@ph: I think they were american, drinking on the street makes them go mad
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago

krameroneill Posted 17 years ago
tempura: I can't tell what the hell is going on.
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
just drinking
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
yep me neither
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
eh...karanka what's the deal? deliberate snapshottery, crass exposure, cheesy flash and 'seemingly' arbitary composition - I like it!!
However, if someone hadn't seen your photostream they might think you were uploading your holiday photos from the early nineties taken with a disposable camera.
krameroneill Posted 17 years ago
zing.
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
senor evez that's exactly what makes joni THE GREATEST of all
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
nah! really......was I being too oblique? the clue was - 'I like it!!'
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
@ sensor why seemingly
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
ok next please.
LOL
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
If you are trying to be arbitary then it's not really arbitary anymore, is it?
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
*yawn*
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
shoul it not be supposedly?
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago

senor evez Posted 17 years ago Edited by senor evez (member) 17 years ago

I wasn't taking the piss - you lot are so tetchy!!
I really genuinely like it!

senor evez Posted 17 years ago Edited by senor evez (member) 17 years ago
sharp and fast mr.karanka - and correct
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
need a built in flash
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
what you mean by correct?
senor evez Posted 17 years ago Edited by senor evez (member) 17 years ago
I mean it is soft and unexciting - it's a mobile phone shot, they are very soft. I still quite like it though in a kind of moronic way.
I didn't mean correct as in predictable and conservative (you weren't really worried about that were you!?)
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
it's good you didn't waste money in gear to get that shot ;-)

long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
i mean, spamming the image critique thread is just so fun. better than phlow:

pros: fetish, legs, moar legs
cons: colours, postproc, framed accazzo
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
i miss you at phlow
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
cons, not enough legs
krameroneill Posted 17 years ago

tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago

long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago

elias bonet Posted 17 years ago

elias bonet Posted 17 years ago

I'm a feet fetichist, but I hate painted toenails. Thumbs down!

EDIT: Man... the thread's fast! My comment was about pH's photo
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
(notice the centrality of the legs of the girl with the cute lips)
senor evez Posted 17 years ago Edited by senor evez (member) 17 years ago
@ φ [浪人]why is that boot on the bench!!
Loads of nice details - and of course, legs.
Were you fixing the light fittings at the time?
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
deliberate snapshottery
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
red shoulders!?
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
@ Karanka, I thought that pets weren't allowed in this group.... ;-)
senor evez Posted 17 years ago Edited by senor evez (member) 17 years ago
@tempura (hit by lightning)
actually, I've copyrighted that phrase - you can borrow it if you want though.
@karanka - what's she holding?
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
joni, i love yours
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
thanks
barbara@NL Posted 17 years ago
Flowers and trees (and people)

I submitted this to the pool some time ago at the request of one of the honorable admins of this group, but it never made it. Not enough (female) legs? Too unexciting?
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
@ph: I just held the camera over them and pressed the red button
tempura (hit by lightning) Posted 17 years ago
oh it's the red one
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
@ barbara: ooooooooooooh, very 2D. maybe better light would 3D it a bit
(but not sure that'd be good for this image)
krameroneill Posted 17 years ago
Yeah, Barbara, I puzzled over that one for a while in the queue. It's different, and interesting, and i wanted to promote it on that basis. It didn't hold my attention, though...the flatness probably did it in.
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
and the pink.
pink is cool only after midnight
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
I guess it's not massively exciting but viewed large it is really beautiful and intriguing. I reckon a massive print would look cool (much more than I can say for my mobile phone pictures).
barbara@NL Posted 17 years ago
@φ [浪人] well, I am always fast asleep after midnight...
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
this one was waiting in the queue for a while, and finally didn't made it, what do you think?

long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
@barbara: oh, you are one of those... well, nice to meet you , M.me Alien
;)
Dr Karanka Posted 17 years ago
@elias: not sure about the very right, the scene surrounding the doors is cool, including the 255 and beyond
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
@ elias
I like the fact everyone is waiting. It looks kind of frustratingly inert, like they are all just pacing back and forth.
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
yeah, it might be the ostetrician's "future dads waiting parlour"
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
@karanka...sorry, 255? what does it mean?
@phi. LOL!!
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
@elias: lvl 255= super top doped DIABLOII personage made of pure white and light. make it like a mashup of Gandalf and Dumbledore and Jesus the Sailor Man. Alternatively, have a look at any hystogram in Photoshop and count
adsmith1971 Posted 17 years ago
Would it have been better if the guy on the right was cropped out?
ceaseless oven [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
argh!
.
long-term cave [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
@adsmith: no. yes. probably not. it sucks anyhow, and would suck in any possible universe
ceaseless oven [deleted] Posted 17 years ago
dunno I'd go that far?

kinda ok if you drop the left third of the image...
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
@adsmith: I liked that man balancing compo, as I see it.
@phi: excesive contrast you mean? sorry but I feel a bit lost about this...
@JD: It's frightening!!
Surely Not Posted 17 years ago
ah, how i've missed this thread! take it to pieces...

Ferry Crossing Edit
krameroneill Posted 17 years ago
@surely not: surely not!
thechrisproject Posted 17 years ago
Surely - neat place it seems. Not much going on, action wise or comp wise, just everyone standing around and not even arranged in a particularly neat way. I like the colors, blue outside, lots of repeating brown and red on the inside.

Olov~ Posted 17 years ago Edited by Olov~ (member) 17 years ago
stef_R, very nice! it sort of reminds me of a Winogrand picture, the one on the cover of his awesome 'Figments' book. Splendid suburbia 'dullness'..
I would like the kid to be further from the garden under, to 'bounce' out a little more from the picture.. And maybe I would crop a slice from the left to have less of those uninteresting clouds and center the frame more on the red car and kid. Cheers
krameroneill Posted 17 years ago
stef: That blank left side messes things up a little for me, but it's not a dealbreaker. I think that's a cool shot.

Let's see what others think...
mort* Posted 17 years ago
Love that stef. I actually like the left side with that ominous looking wall.
senor evez Posted 17 years ago
The left side gives you the two roads that lead towards the viewer and away into the distance though. A lot of the success of this shot for me is the three roads and their meeting point, the lampost and the car. The relationship between the child and the car is strange and that's the thing that makes me imagine some kind of story. Interesting because at first I liked it's calmness and normality.
elias bonet Posted 17 years ago
I've seen this pic several times in different groups, and it always jump to my eyes. I like it, it seems a scale model. But I agree with kramer about the left side. That wall is like out of place there...
Luca D. Posted 17 years ago
Yeahh !!!

The best thread on flickr is back. I've been complaining so much that I quite feel guilty. Well, after all, why shall I feel guilty if it has been closed by someone else (I won't say by Karanka 'cause it'd be unkind :p).

I'm so glad that I'll submit a picture for the first time. Please, hit hard, I want the old atmosphere back :)

PS: thanks Karanka for opening it again :)
