Blatant selfpromotion thread

Posted 17 years ago
If you have something that you have done and you want people to look at it, post it here. If you post blatant selfpromotion to the group, it will probably be deleted as a thread and copied here. I know that we all want to comment, but please, don't saturate the thread after the first succesful submission.

Just DO NOT WRITE TOO MANY COMMENTS. You must leave enough space for the selfpromotion to be noticed.
From the blue condom promotion above I conclude that "if you have something that you have done and you want people to look at it" is not restricted to street photography (let alone hardcore street photography), so here's my Habitat series

I started my Welsh Surfaces set. They are 28 images of a seven hour roadtrip accross South Wales with Benny. Absolutely new images of Benny will appear in it at some point in time. 5 images are uploaded every day and today is issue 1! Get in it before it all is over next Monday! Limited edition Blurb books might be produced if the reception is positive!
@Mr. Karanka: thanks, note that my Habitat series is not finished yet either, but will grow over time, so make sure to come back and check regularly!
PS: one thing is sure though, Benny will not appear in it...

I've managed to get this short-listed for a "Pictures of Leeds" competition!
Unfortunately the winner was to be decided by a public email vote, and, as the closing date has just passed, and no-one's been in touch yet, I suspect success has eluded me (again)...

haha, cool paul. have you read 'non fiction' by chuck? it is a really, really good read. i would reccomend it to any photographer.
@ Benny
No, my reading sort of peaked with the "I am a Bunny" picture book (a classic) -- I mean to get into it again.
Whoops, that wasn't self-promotion either. Erm, I am great, etc.

Orhan - i'm kind of with bryan - going to a demonstration and taking some photographs isn't really 'reportage' is it? i reckon the late philip jones griffiths would agree with me...

There is one benny in today's offer and there will be one benny in tomorrow's offer as well! I promise that tomorrow is going to be the grand day of the series, including urban landscapes, snapshot of benny having a milkshake and the first photograph with street flavour! Stay tuned and aware! One of the frames will even have the red/magenta cast corrected... so it has ended up cyan! There will also be some underwear without nudity! Ladies and gentlemen, have a stroll by my stream... limited offer till Monday! Join while it's still building up! Have your say!

i was curious to see the stuff, but once i started seeing the numbers going up, i closed the site. no offense, but there's tons and tons and tons of work out there. and most curatorial minded people won't look at your work if you make it a pain in the ass to view.

ok, so after the referrals, i went back. yes, it's interesting. like the sound mix and the map is nice concept.
so, you're onto something...
not crazy about the photographs, but then again, i'm not crazy about most.
kudos for taking a chance doing something different though. i'll always applaud that....and have it bookmarked, but for me, it feels like a one and done deal. can't imagine nightlife is going to change in leeds too much in the near future.

There will be one of my prints hanged up at the 'Executive Lounge' near Corso Como in Milano, from 19.30 to 21.30 on the 23rd of May. Well, that's next Friday. It's with something organized between flickr and the milano group. Go to your closest airport and pick up a plane, it's that good!
there seems to be editing of comments that do in fact contain blatant self promotion.. any reason? or are we just trying to keep the thread tight? (i know i know ridiculous, right?)

if that satisfies the emperor's eunuchs, then i might have to shamelessly self-promote THIS as well, some sort of best of.

Well, well, well... all of Welsh Surfaces is finally online and the treck is over. Now you can expect the book to arrive anytime soon ;-)
This thread's going to be 300 pages long in about 2 days, so since I don't have any time and I only got to look at Kramer's set taxidermy photos, I wanted to say I loved it before I forget!

Thanks, Chuck! I was just complaining to the story's writer about how all that time we spent there had resulted in something imperfect, and what a drag that is. I should lighten the hell up look on the bright side for once.

yeah i think you have some good stuff in there, and was thinking you should do another one (i don't know how frequent taxidermy conventions are but..). try and get in with a couple taxidermists and then i think you could get plugged into the taxidermy universe and have a pretty interesting project on your hands.

local man: Yeah, I met another photographer there who seemed to be thinking along those lines. It's a good idea, although I would have to really psych myself up for that, conventions being the draining experience that they are.
Waxy: Thank you! ...but you know how you're making something and you think "damn, I'm so good at this," then it's done, and you think, "awww, it all came out a little deformed!" I always expect to feel that way, yet it's always a little deflating. Whatever; a year from now, I'll probably love it. Or at least appreciate it more.

TS: I don't want to critique the quality of the "Blatant Self-Promotion Thread" (entirely too meta, even for me), but I think we're looking for something more than a single image, unless it relates to the topic at hand. And I'm not sure you want people to comment on the photo rather than in the thread (certainly not this thread, because this is not the image critique thread, where I see you have also put this shot–three threads in one day devoted to the same boring picture? Surely you deserve some kind of award for that), because the image critique thread gets a little rough, so it's not the place to fish for the digital thumbs-up.
