Each week an image is selected at random from the front page of the pool for discussion. Selection of an image does not infer that it excels or fails at meeting any particular criteria, but rather that it is simply the one selected for discussion.

I did ask for permission from the photographer to have his photo discussed here. However, let's still try to be classy and tasteful in expressing our opinions and, equally important, let's not make the conversation run into the same old issue of 'why is this photo in the pool'.

For this week we have the image by Dimitris Makrygiannakis:.

I will be honest, I was a bit taken aback to see this on the front page.

"Is this even Street Photography?" I heard myself asking myself in my head. "How did we get here?" Surely there isn't room for Unpeopled Photos in the hallowed HCSP photo pool! Boy how times have changed! BUT: I am naturally drawn to this frame. The evocation of mortality, the whimsical nod to synchronized swimming, and the only thing cooler than twins is triplets.

Anyways, this photo makes me smile, contemplate life's ultimate limitation, and makes me want to go back for a second look. Simple, effective, and without anything superfluous, or unnecessary.

I was about to suggest “hey! Let’s do an image discussion again” but you beat me to it.

Anyways, I like the fun, rare moment of synchronized movement of mirroring figures. It was nicely observed and timed. I’ve seen a lot of bird/animal photos lately and this one stands out.

Oh! Btw, thank you Dimitris for helping out cleaning the house.

Just FYI, I feel I should note that we picked this image before Dimitris began helping out with the queue...HCSP admods have a longstanding policy of not submitting our own photos to the pool.
