i am trying to open the 'what are people doing right now' thread to no avail for the umpteenth time in the last few days. seriously, what's wrong with it?
also it is 4.54 in amsterdam and i am going to bed and not following any discussions, definitely not on the i hate digital forum. i am just venting on the slowness of flickr as of late.

The same thing has been happening to me, Regina. Strange. I just figured it was my wonky Internet connection but it continued even when I upgraded to turbo.
See what happens when troll-bots invade the 'what are people doing' thread?
edit: if you're in Vancouver, get over to Steamworks by 10pm. We're headed out for drinks and some good ole fashioned street photography.

Also, wondering how I'll celebrate if or when a photo of mine is finally accepted into the pool.

Crikey Regina, thanks. I thought it was my computer playing up too. For days it's been doing it intermitantly in that post. I get the opening paragraph then a blank page and nothing else.
Well, I'm hungry so i'm going to cook pancakes.

Digesting a hamburger while I am mostly vegetarian. In a weird mood and have uploaded and then deleted 3 photos and going onto my fourth. Not sure what I am looking for but would like to make a change in my photo approach. Hoping that If I write this, there is a slight chance it could occur.

ah well, that's the danger of posting things at 4.57 in the morning, monsters. i am glad lightened your burden, ben.
the friend i left the party with somewhere after 4 yesterday had to start work at 9 this morning. think i am heading over for some moral support (and tea and cake) in a while. but first some breakfast and some actions having to do with being this newly desginated admin in this not so great flickr group...

Still badly digesting that hamburger. Probably was a bad eating decision for a mostly vegetarian.

I've reached my quota for the ep-1 comp, 45 photos. The last 10 or so were all backyard flowers etc coz I couldnt be bothered anymore. The camera is now safely in the box, back to shooting for real. I've wasted enough time.

once again working on the piled up amount of photographs. getting there. heading to rotterdam this afternoon to catch up with a friend and take pictures of her. she's in her third trimester, should be exciting to take pictures of her, but somehow i think the usual chatting nonsense over glasses of wine will be a bit different this time.

04:00 back from beach house and vetiver concert. after berlin, poland, the baltic sea, weired car rides, ship cruises, plane flights, the loss of one waterproof cam to the gods of water and the demage of a zoom lens by my own clumsiness. tomorrow black lips and deerhunter. and headache, of course.

Amused that some people on blogs are questioning whether Melissa Brandts' photo-op squirrel is a fake, e.g. the squirrel is stuffed. It happens to all the greats -- Capa, Martins, et al.
Also, the photo seems to be part of a Nat Geo rights-grab competition. Hope she actually retains copyright of the image.

Only 3 and-a-half hours of work left until I am off for 11 days. On the road tomorrow morning for new locales, lots of film, lots of anticipation. A long drive.
Coincides nicely with the realization that I need to strike a better balance between theory and practice. That means less time on internet. A lot less.
And of course, more time planning, shooting, scanning and figuring out what the hell it is I am trying to accomplish through photography.

Boy I slept great last night - and dreamed I was traveling through a street photographer's paradise, through the kind of kitschy American suburbs Shore and Eggleston dream about. Little cottage houses with old cars in the driveway, quaint yards surrounded in chain link fence with the dogs and kid's play sets out, the houses all still having their Christmas decorations up, old steel mills and grain silos, wrecking yards, and coal plants in the distance, trains coming through, gentrified but still old town squares full of little bakeries and breakfast diners. In my dream I was saying to myself, "I'd like to shoot all this on slide film."

Nice one Mark. Maybe someday we will be able to photograph our dreams but probably not likely in film.
Off to San Francisco to eat, snoop around, and hopefully find some interesting light.

Mark, I live in NW Indiana. You just described this area to a T. You should come visit some time. I'm sitting on a few rolls of MF slide film that I shot at a little diner near me where they meet up with their old cars every week. The place actually still has girls on roller skates who bring your food to your car.
