I took up photography in February this year, inspired by my 18 year old daughter's photography. I did some photography back in my 20's! .... and of course I had the old kodak box camera when I was little!

My adventure with photography has started few years ago and remains a very important part of my life and leisure. I just cannot imagine being off work and not having my camera in hand! My real name is Carol, British but have been leaving near Frankfurt, Germany for some 30 years. I'm 57 years young and have been interested in photography for about 6 years. The digital era made things easier and I enjoy going on courses and learning.
I finished working at 50. I have been very involved in animal rescue - supporting a dog shelter in Romania and rehoming the dogs in Germany. Now I need to take a break and am concentrating more on my camera.
I suppose my main area is animals ( in particular dogs) and nature, although I'm starting to enjoy people too.

I have been known as G since I was about 10, even then everyone knew that Gretchen just didn't fit me. As a teen my shutterbug within emerged, but my view of the world didn't quite align with the average person. Through the years life took over and my time behind the lens became scarce. 20 years have passed and I have learned to enjoy my offbeat perspective and my passion is back.
The ability to use digital tech for instant feedback has helped me learn and grow in my art. My family is used to seeing me crawling, climbing, hanging, balancing, contorting and looking at the world my way. I'm no where near a professional level and probably never will be, and I do understand not everyone appreciates my vision. I love input and feedback from others, but for now it's about enjoying my journey as I develop my own style.

Digital photography has made it so much fun! As a homemaker, I take a lot of my pictures around the house and in the yard since I enjoy gardening and flowers. Flickr has helped me to think more outside the box to take shots of things I never would have thought of before.
My only suggestion is to be clearer on deadlines. I can't always tell when the end is for a submission.

Hi - as this group has been created on March 13th (my birthday) I really think I should join. I'm Barbara from Germany but I have lived the past years in Armenia. I'm working in nature conservation so I'm an "outdoor" person prefering motives from nature (landscapes, animals, flowers, small natural details catching my eyes). I also love the sea so I have quite a lot of seascapes and shorelines. I'm not at all a professional photographer - I simply enjoy taking beautiful pictures while I'm hiking.
